Stretcher Flight Service
Stretcher patient transportation with Turkish Airlines (THY) is a specially planned passenger service. By removing certain seats in the plane, a stretcher is placed and the patient travels comfortably in a horizontal position. As Turkish Medical Service, we organize this process from A to Z; we accompany our patients in all steps from reservation to hospital delivery after the flight.
Transferring patients on stretchers by scheduled flights is a more economical and faster solution compared to renting a private plane. However, this process requires certain preparation and compliance with airline rules. The patient's condition must be "fit for flight", the necessary documents must be prepared completely and the installation of the stretcher kit for the flight must be planned in advance.

Patient Reservation with STCR Code
Stretcher patient reservations are made with the STCR (Stretcher Passenger) code in THY and other airline systems. This special code indicates that the passenger will be transported on a stretcher in the system and ensures that the necessary arrangements are made on the plane. For reservations with STCR codes, applications must be made at least 48 hours in advance and health documents must be submitted to the airline. During this process, we manage all technical and medical paperwork on your behalf.
The “fit to fly” report, which shows the patient’s suitability for the flight, is mandatory for the safe operation of the flight. The report can be prepared by the patient’s doctor or a medical specialist assigned by us. The report must include information on diagnosis, general condition, medical support and medication that will be needed during the flight. THY usually requests this report at least 10 days before the flight date.

In-Flight Arrangements for Stretcher Patients
In THY stretcher transportation service, generally 6-9 seats are removed in economy class and a special stretcher unit is placed. During this arrangement, both the stretcher position and the seat of the companion are determined in advance. If the patient needs oxygen, serum support, monitoring, these are provided with portable medical equipment on the plane. Our team is ready with the equipment to meet all the needs of the patient throughout the flight.
